Bountiful Bass with Rhythm and Pace! – Transrotor Nero Review

The online magazine Tracking Angle took a look at the Transrotor Strato Nero with TRA-9 tonearm. They note that the German high-end turntable package that arrives almost ready to play. Supplied with Transrotor’s Konstant power/speed controller it’s built for serious vinyl enthusiasts who want a complete analogue front end without the usual complexity. Despite weighing over 180 pounds (80kg) when shipped, setup is surprisingly straightforward thanks to a pre-mounted arm and well-thought-out design.

The engineering is substantial: a layered acrylic-and-aluminum plinth with isolated motor assembly, a magnetically coupled sub-platter designed to smooth motor vibrations, and an 11.5-pound POM platter. The TRA-9 arm uses a damped dual-alloy aluminum tube, magnetic anti-skating, and van den Hul silver wiring, making it versatile and precise.

Sonically, the Strato Nero makes an immediate impression with its bass performance—deep, articulate, and highly controlled. Rhythm and pacing are rock-solid, producing a stable and wide soundstage. Midrange and treble are clear and natural, but slightly restrained compared to the powerful low end. Acoustic and vocal recordings can feel overshadowed by the bass, but with rock, fusion, and more rhythm-driven music the Strato Nero absolutely shines, delivering energy, drive, and scale.

Verdict: A beautifully built, easy-to-live-with turntable that excels in bass weight and musical momentum—particularly rewarding for rock and rhythm lovers.
