T+A stands for Theory and Application in the field of audio technology. That means T+A devise, create and fine-tune Hi-Fi components of the highest quality, with the aim of developing fully mature High-End products for customers all over the world. They have been based in Herford, Eastern Westphalia since 1978, this site has been the hub for all of their development and practical work . The design briefs for their products have no restrictions, with no expense or effort ever being too great in the endeavour to achieve sonic perfection.

With this streaming amplifier, we pay homage to nearly 50 years of Engineering Emotion. Breathing life into the claim “The Future of Retro” this device is both a bold look to the future of audio as well as a nod to the generations of T+A engineers, designers and craftspeople past and present whose ideas and hands have helped shape some of the most iconic devices, be it in terms of technology, looks or aesthetics.

R SERIES

The R-series is T+A’s oldest and most important product group. First presented in 1992, the system’s technology, operating philosophy and appearance were immediately convincing in every respect, and we were determined to introduce revisions only when genuine improvements were possible.

The new R-series is a completely new development, and for this reason the models bear new type numbers: 2000 R for the low-profile cases, and 2500 R for the taller versions.

HV SERIES

The HV-series has developed into a line of high-end electronics which has immediately gained some of the finest reviews and assessments world-wide. In short time it has made T+A the leading high-end manufacturer in Germany. The HV-series first appeared in 2013, and was based on our thirty years of experience in the development and construction of first-class transistor amplifiers and valve devices. The new series incorporates a revolutionary concept combining the sonic and technical advantages of both technologies, at the same time avoiding the inherent disadvantages of present-day valves. The HV = High Voltage technology is employed in the amplifier stages of all the machines in this series, and is the secret behind their outstanding performance and sound quality. The source devices of the same series are just as uncompromising and superb as the amplifiers. They represent absolutely the highest level in the processing and reproduction of all digital sources.

For nearly two decades, the name Talis has symbolised what we envision for a design speaker that accepts no compromises: exceptional sound reproduction, striking visual appeal, and hand-brushed aluminium cabinets for a standard of craftsmanship far beyond what traditional wood enclosures can achieve. Only this material offers the flexibility, surface quality, and design options to realise forms and structures unattainable with conventional materials.

Advanced extrusion technology has enabled us to create enclosures of extraordinary stability that, despite their elegantly compact form, offer a substantial internal volume. This volume is essential to the Talis speakers’ remarkable bass response and resonance-free performance. The T+A WrapAround Baffle, a design-oriented re-interpretation of T+A’s OrganicBaffle, fosters optimal sound dispersion throughout the mid to high-frequency range, fully utilizing the exceptional qualities of the new AudiophileLinearity+ tweeter. The high-performance StarStabilizer drivers and ultra-fast FSR crossovers of the latest generation unite each element, transforming signals into the signature T+A sound. For us, Talis represents the perfect blend of German engineering, dynamic design, and the pursuit of acoustic perfection.

SOLITAIRE

The Solitaire S 530 and S 540 incorporate an unprecedented array of unique top-level technologies. Their In-house Mag850 magnetostat, driven by 64 high-performance magnets, extends over a length of 85 centimetres along the front of the cabinet whilst seven elliptically shaped StarStabilizer mid-range units handle the frequency range from 150 to 2000 Hertz. This system represents the latest iteration of our Cylinder Wave Technology: a revolutionary concept which generates a homogeneous sound field between the loudspeakers, and effectively minimises the disturbing influences of the listening room. The entry into our world of High-End reference loudspeakers is the Solitaire S 430, which effortlessly solves the contradiction between appearance, construction and maximum audiophile performance. This manages by combining the constructional advantages of a conventional loudspeaker design with the performance of the Symmetric Directivity mid-range system – developed specifically for this application – and our new magnetostatic treble driver. The design of the mid-range / treble unit, consisting of two newly developed 15 cm mid-range units with a concentric 5 cm treble driver, considerably reduces the influences of the listening room. This technology makes it far more than an entry-level model for the Solitaire series: it becomes the next step in a new class.

HEADPHONES

It is not a coincidence that T+A reference headphones bear the name Solitaire.
Back in 1983 our founder developed T+A’s first planar-electrostatic transducer: the mid-high range unit for the Solitaire OEC active loudspeaker, which remains a legend to this day.

This principle was the obvious choice for our first headphones, based on the exceptional qualities of this type of planar transducer and our thirty-five years of experience in the development and manufacture of film transducers. Planar-magnetic transducers are very similar to electrostatic devices, as their diaphragm also consists of a thin film driven by a strong magnetic field. For that reason it was therefore natural to start our headphone division by developing open planar systems for our first headphone series. The fundamental designs of planar magnetic systems are ideally suited to High-End headphones, and are inherently superior to dynamic alternatives.
