Transrotor Scala Turntable Receives High Praise in New Review

The Transrotor Scala is the latest turntable from the German manufacturer, introduced at High End 2026 in Vienna. In a new review by Achim Schneider, the Scala is put through its paces with a wide-ranging selection of music, from Rickie Lee Jones and Pat Metheny to The Rolling Stones, Malia and Fleetwood Mac.

The reviewer’s first impressions are strongly positive, with particular attention paid to the Scala’s exceptionally quiet operation, stability and flexible two-tonearm design. The turntable’s damping system also proved effective, with the reviewer finding it remarkably resistant to external vibration.

The typical excellent quality engineering that we expect from Transrotor – But it is the listening experience that really stands out.

With Rickie Lee Jones’ Chuck E.’s In Love, the Scala produced a crisp, clear vocal and beautifully defined acoustic guitar, immediately giving the impression of a well-matched system. Pat Metheny’s Offramp revealed an effortless sense of musical communication and flow between the instruments.

The Scala also demonstrated considerable versatility. The Rolling Stones’ Sympathy For The Devil brought out its rhythmic and dynamic qualities, while Malia’s Convergence showed that it could deliver powerful electronic bass alongside an intimate vocal presentation.

The biggest praise comes with Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 debut. Describing the playback as “simply superb”, Schneider highlights its power, tonal colour and coherence, ultimately becoming so absorbed that he listened to the entire side rather than lifting the stylus.

The review concludes that the Scala is particularly suited to listeners looking to take an already serious analogue setup further, with plenty of scope for future upgrades….
