Epos’ new arrival crashes the Loudspeaker party! Straight in at number 1! Over at What HiFi The arrival of the Epos ES-7N has been one of the highlights of their 2024 Awards judging, ‘period.’
As they say, these clever little speakers deliver exceptional levels of sound, and the considerable thought that has gone into making them so easy to accommodate has impressed us almost as much. These Epos got the nod over some well reviewed big names in the Loudspeaker scene but deservedly came out on top.
Many people choose small speakers because they have a smaller listening room or space available, but almost all smaller models are designed to sound at their best when positioned a good distance from the rear walls. You may even hear the term ‘bookshelf ’ speakers, but most speakers labelled bookshelf may mean that while they fit on a bookshelf… they will not have been optimised to work well, and sound great on a bookshelf… Sure, it is much easier to design a speaker to work well away, and much easier marketing to say it is a bookshelf design but therein lies the challenge… Epos, however, hasn’t shied away fromthe challenge in its new ES-7N speakers:
The solution is an adaptable tuning toggle switch.
The company has taken a practical approach to the question of positioning limitations and this gives a surprisingly even sound when the speakers are used up against a wall or on (or even in) a bookshelf.
In fact not just an even sound… an award winning, best in class sound.
